My study method for BEC and FAR are as follows:
Approximately three months prior to the exams.

1. Go over the materials(texts)as detailed as possible
for twice, and take note of important parts.

2. Go over MC questions 4~5 times, and repeatedly
go back and forth on the harder questions.

3. Do simulation exercises for about 5 times.

By the time I am about to take the exams, I have
virtually memorized all the patterns of the above
questions.

I already realize this is a dangerous way, because you
don't expect the same questions appeared on the exams
and that keeps dragging me from success. In another word,
I have habituated myself in a style to memorize the pattern
of the questions rather than devoting to understand them.
Even if i did understand the questions,I would have had hard time dealing it when the questions on the actual exam come
out in a different format. So, this is my present problem.

Is it too late to correct my method of study now? I feel very
worried about this point.

Any constructive advice will be greatly appreciated.

Eric: what are your scores on your practice tests like? Are you reviewing some of the previous chapters every so often?

I did take practice exams a couple of times at different levels,
I mean they are usually harder than the actual exams.
And before the exams, I also incorporate reviewing the
practice exams in my preparation strategy.
I am kind of relying on expecting the similar questions
appeared on the exams, and I know this is not the right
way to study the CPA.

Eric, I'm curious which review course you are using? Is it one that offers hundreds or thousands of multiple choice questions?

No, I am using non of the Review materials introduced on this
website as my formal studies, except for the exam practice.
I am actually using the materials from CPA school and studying outside of the US. And they are the most updated materials, too.

Prior to the exam, I've also worked on the multiple choices
from Bisk CPA Review for BEC(2008-2009), Willey CPA2008,
Gleim CPA Review for FAR(2007), and Willey CPA Review2009.

As far as the CPA questions is concerned, I think I have done
sufficient volume on them, including some of the questions
on this forum. However, I don't know why I cannot tackle well
in the REAL BALLTE. Besides limited time issue, am i still
short of basic understandings of the CONCEPTS? I do
not 100% agree with that. The problem may lies in the fact
that I am worried about running into the unfamiliar
questions, and time management. So it seemed that when
you are worried, you are sort of attracting more difficult
questions to yourself.

Any advice or similar experiences to share would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have practice software that show you your grades? That should be a pretty good indication of if you know the materials or now.

Passed, No I do not have any practice software to level my grade.
What kind of software is it? Have you made a successful result
with it?

Eric, I consider multiple choice software the single most important/essential review tool that you can have. They are usually in the exact same format as the actual exam, have countless questions to practice, and allow you to track your progress and focus on your weak areas. And as Passed said, your scores are a good indication of whether or not you are ready for the exam.

There are quite a few good options out there, probably the two most popular being Gleim and Wiley. Wiley now has an online test bank that requires no installation and is pretty convenient. Let me know if you would like more information on that.

Eric, Thanks for the advice. How should I get such a
practice software? And how much would it cost? and
plus any shipping cost outside of the US? Appreciate
if you have any information on this.

I'll show you what I am having now for the CPA studies:
1. Text books from the CPA School
2. MC questions for all 4 sections
3. Related Simulations for all 4 sections
4. Website practices(both MC and simulations)
5. Additionally, i'm starting making my own note to
make sure not to miss any important points.
The materials and the questions which I am working currently are harder than that of the actual exams based on my experience. Some of the questions can be found on this forum too.
With all these materials, I dont know why I am still so
slow in my progress. It has always been a different WORLD
on the BIG DAY and cannot see myself a light at the end of the tunnel.... :(
