Practice the multiple choice questions over, and over, and over. Then practice them some more.

I completely agree! I was shocked how many questions on the exam were exactly like the ones I practiced.

I'm curious as to what type of materials others find most effective? I haven't purchased anything yet, but apparently there are books, audio, live review, videos, etc. Suggestions?

cpainmaking, I like the audio as a supplement because it allows you to study in the car, while working out, traveling, etc. I've kind of used all of the above but I like that the audio allows you to do two things at once.

The one thing I would say you should have, at a minimum, is good old fashioned textbooks. I may not have used my textbooks the most, but there are times when having them is invaluable. You don’t always have access to a computer, but you can always just open your textbook and review for any period of time. Plus, there were times that I wanted to be outside while I was studying, rather than in front of a computer.

A day at a time. Every day. That's what worked best for me. It's like a language, so a little every day was paramount--be it a chapter a day, or a textbook a day (whatever you like)--just keep it fresh in your brain. And then set up a schedule that fits your study mode or lifestyle.

All I used was old fashioned Wiley review books. I would set a schedule to go through each section in a certain amount of time. I would skim the chapter then do the multiple choice at the end of the chapters. I would keep going over the multiple choice until I was comfortable with the section. A couple days before the exam I focused on going through as many multiple choice questions as I could and if I had any problem areas in my initial review I would study those.

The first couple of sections I took did not go well…both scores in the low 60's. Honestly,my study habits were not good. Alot of times when I studied at night I would be in front of the tv or listening to music pretty loud. Then I decided to buckle down and study distraction free, and it definitely helped me remember what i studied alot better. I just passed BEC! 77!

Hi! I just became eligible to sit for the CPA exam. Any advice on what I should take first?
